Modeshift STARS

Become a Modeshift STARS Active and Sustainable Travel Champion and help your school gain up to £6000 grant funding over 3 years

Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel.  The scheme encourages schools to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of children and young people.  Every time your school gains a Modeshift STARS accreditation level (Bronze, Silver or Gold), they will be eligible to apply for a £2,000 grant from the Council.  A champion is required to run the Modeshift STARS scheme in each school - this can be a teacher, parent or governor.  If you would like to champion Modeshift STARS in your child(ren)’s school, please talk to the school and/or the My Journey Team

For the 2018/19 academic year the first school in Wokingham Borough to achieve a Modeshift STARS accreditation will receive a free visit from Histrionics to present a sustainable travel linked history workshop.

Well Done to the following schools for their Modeshift STARS Accreditations in 2017/18:

  • Highwood Primary School for Bronze
  • Evendons Primary School for Bronze
  • Gorse Ride Junior School for Bronze
  • Bearwood Primary School for Bronze
  • Holme Grange School for Silver
