Wokingham Borough Council are inviting Head Teachers and a passionate staff member from every school in the borough to attend a Teacher’s Climate Summit on the afternoon of Friday 8 July 2022 at Holme Grange Independent School, Wokingham.

This event is a great opportunity for Head Teachers and Educators to come together and explore the options that are available in addressing climate change and adopting more sustainable practices.

My Journey's Air Quality Officer will be attending the summit.

Wokingham Borough Council declared a climate emergency in July 2019 and made the commitment to play as full a role as possible in achieving a carbon-neutral Wokingham Borough by 2030. To achieve this target, we need to come together as a community and take positive action to reduce carbon emissions.

Our Teacher’s Climate Summit is the first of its kind in the borough. The ambition is for it to be a catalyst for a movement within our local schools to help us combat climate change. If you are asking yourself why you should attend here are three good reasons:

  1. A complimentary lunch and opportunity to connect with leading educators across the area, to have honest conversations about what has worked and what has not.
  2. Hear first-hand about the initiatives Wokingham Borough Council have and will be launching to help young people be part of the solution
  3. Get greater insight about the schemes and support that is available to help your school reduce energy cost, lower its carbon footprint and how to engage your students in the action

We believe by working together, schools can adopt new ways of educating and engaging children and young people in climate solutions, unleashing the creativity of teachers and students to develop and implement climate action projects in their homes, schools, and communities.
