Bike maintenance course at Pinewood

My Journey organised a 2 hour basic bike maintenance course for adults at Pinewood Scout Hut last week for cyclists with only a little (if any) knowledge of bike maintenance.

We had 7 brave souls attending and they just needed to bring their own bike; all equipment was provided to learn how to check and maintain a bike, and how to change an inner tube in the event of a puncture.  Gary, our expert Dr Bike guided everyone through a number of basic skills, imparting expert hints and tips on the best techniques to use for finding where the puncture is and ensuring the patch sticks properly.  Gary also covered issues with brakes (including disc brakes), gears and cleaning.  Despite it being a little chilly in the scout hut, the course successfully ran with humour and persistence, and resulted in valuable knowledge information for everyone on the little hitches that come along with being a cyclist.

My Journey are running further bike maintenance courses on the following dates:

  • 6 March at Dinton Activity Centre, Hurst - book a place here.
  • May at Coronation Hall, Woodley – date to be arranged
  • September at Spencers Wood Village Hall, Shinfield – date to be arranged
