Breeze Ride from South Hill Park to Virginia Water

Despite the autumnal feel, the sun shone brightly for the 10 ladies who enjoyed a 22 mile led Breeze cycle ride starting at South Hill Park to Virginia Water, via Ascot Racecourse and back.  The route was mainly off road, taking advantage of Bracknell cycle routes and we had no punctures or incidents (except having to get off the bikes for some roadworks on London Road where the cycle path was in pieces!).  The ride encompassed both Lily Hill and Savernake parks, through the racecourse with a stunning view of the building and alongside the picture perfect lake, managing to share the path with runners and several dogs enjoying the morning.  The essential break for a much needed coffee was spent chatting and basking in the sun outside the café overlooking the water.

My Journey would like to get more ladies on bikes and group rides are the perfect way to start riding if you’re rusty or not confident on the roads, and have the added advantage of being sociable and stopping off half way for coffee and cake (if you desire)!  We need more Breeze champions in our area to lead rides so if you’re interested, please get in touch with British Cycling to register, with free training offered and free Breeze clothing supplied enabling you to find and risk assess new routes plus exploring your surrounding area.  Rides can be anything from 3 to 30 miles and from beginners to confident riders with gradients of easy, steady and challenging.  It’s a lovely community to be part of with the added benefits of keeping fit and using sustainable transport.  Why not give it a try!!

Go to the Lets Ride (Breeze) website to sign up for training as a champion or booking on any rides nationally (by searching using your postcode). For more information about local rides see the Breeze Facebook page.
