Celebrating Bike Week in Wokingham
The My Journey Wokingham team was busy last week, running events around the borough to help raise the profile of the humble bicycle and help people to be able to take to two wheels for more of their everyday journeys.
Monday saw the week starting with a Tour of Wokingham as part of Urban Limits’ Tour of Berkshire – Dr Bike did check-ups at Shute End, Space Business Centre, Tesco and Wokingham Marketplace accompanied by My Journey Wokingham on their trusty cargo bike and Urban Limits with information, advice and tips.
On Wednesday the team visited Green Park, talking to staff about their journeys to work and encouraging people to have a go on the smoothie bike to make pedal-powered healthy drinks.Thursday’s event at Winnersh Triangle focused on sustainable transport, with electric cars on site to test drive as well as Dr Bike, cycle security marking, the smoothie bike and the team sharing a stand with Bikesmart Reading to promote the Reading Cycle Challenge, which takes place throughout June.
Bike Week is a national initiative to celebrate all things bike-related. My Journey Wokingham works all year round to help more residents, workplaces, community groups and school communities to experience and enjoy cycling as part of an active lifestyle. Please get in touch if you’d like to have a chat about cycling in the borough: firstname.lastname@example.org
