Child Car Seat Assembly at Evendons Primary School

My Journey teamed up with the police to deliver an assembly to the whole school at Evendons Primary School, on child car seats and seatbelt use to highlight that children have to be at least 135cm tall before they no longer need a booster seat.  Apart from taller children in Years 5 and 6, the majority of the pupils needed to continue using their seats to ensure they are secure and restrained in the car; the reason due to seatbelts being designed for adults.  Our Safer Roads Berkshire initiative, Booster Boy was used to demonstrate the correct height needed with measuring each child in front Booster Boy (or girl), who later could be seen by the gates at going home time to reinforce the message.

The police also modelled their hi-vis coat to discuss the need for hi-vis and reflective items to be used by pedestrians and cyclists at this time of the year, when light levels are lower and with the hour going back at the end of the month.
