Child Car Seat Clinic

My Journey team, supported by Safer Roads Berkshire, held a child car seat clinic at Tesco, Finchampstead Road on Thursday 13 September with specialists from Child Seat Safety checking seats.

Parents and carers were obviously concerned that they are transporting children in a safe manner and were keen for advice and peace of mind that their seats were fitted correctly.  Checks were carried out not only on the fitting of the seat in the car, but the fitting of the child in the seat.  Faults were found with both and the overall results following the day prove that there is still a long way to go with keeping children safe in the car.

The results were 41 checks, plus 7 advice only and 5 refusals.  Of the 41 checks only 4 had the seat and the child correct – the rest had a fault with the child fitting or the seat fitment. Good news is that all issues were resolved.
