Easter Road Safety Bike Ride
As part of the range of activities which My Journey planned across the Borough in the Easter holidays, we teamed up again with the Community Engagement team to plan a bike trail. In the past we have often had group rides, where families could sign up to be taken to ride a route with My Journey volunteers acting as the ride leaders. However with restrictions still in place over Easter it was decided, following the success of our half-term cycles to plan another route which families could follow themselves, meaning they could keep the proper social distance.
As part of our efforts to ensure that activities over Easter would be spread across the Borough, was planned this route in Woodley. As we wanted it to be accessible for families we planned it to mainly follow areas with dual use pavement or along routes which were very quiet or with no access for cars altogether.
The theme of this cycle ride were road safety signs. Twelve posters were dotted along the route at all the major turning points, allowing those taking part to follow along easily without having to refer to the map. The posters also had a common road sign, especially those which were related to cyclists. Those taking part were encouraged to guess what each sign meant, before checking their answers by scanning the QR code on the posters.
Two winners were chosen who correctly identified all the signs. They won some One4all vouchers as well as other active travel goodies.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this bike trail!
