Fabulous FLAB rides!

On a chilly and blustery Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago (re-arranged from the morning because of the Wokingham half marathon!), My Journey joined a group of 12 ladies and gentlemen (children are welcome too) to set off from Dinton Pastures for a 23 mile round ride, led by Amy, to Velolife, a lovely cycle café/bike workshop well known and loved by cyclists around the area.

Anyone worried about struggling at the back need have no concerns as FLAB rides (acronym for Fat Lad at the Back national brand) have a lovely inclusive feel with a no drop policy, and dedicated volunteers who support stragglers at the back and provide encouragement and humour to keep riding.  The dynamics of the group made for a feel good, friendly and steady ride on roads, mostly country lanes with only a couple of short stretches on the main A roads.  The whole group reached Velolife in fine fettle (with no incidents en route) and ready for coffee and cake (or their famous cheese toasties!), a warm up and some socialising.

Anyone wanting to join a free group led ride just needs to book onto one on the Let’s Ride website and turn up with their bike to enjoy the FLAB experience!!
