Wokingham town centre regeneration has begun and further work is planned in the town with Peach Street reducing to one lane for around 15 weeks which is expected to start at the end of February.
The changes taking place in the town centre may be the perfect opportunity for residents to start travelling differently. As well as avoiding traffic an alternative mode may save you money, improve your health and gain rewards via BetterPoints.
Residents who travel around or through the town centre sustainably will be awarded extra points through the BetterPoints app. The app can be downloaded on i0s or Android phones via the App Store or Google Play. Residents can track journeys, gain points and convert these points into shop vouchers (e.g. Amazon, Topshop and M&S) or donate them to charity (e.g British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research and Age UK).
Further details on the scheme can be found on the BetterPoints website and information on the different travel options for travelling to the town centre is listed on the Wokingham Town Centre webpage.
Across the borough, points are also available for residents to earn. Sixty points can be earned up to twice a day for a walk, cycle or run journey covering a minimum distance of 0.5 miles. Forty points can be earned up to twice a day for a bus, train or car share journey covering a minimum distance of 1 mile.
