Twyford Village Fete & Fun Day
On a mild, yet windy Saturday afternoon on 17 August, My Journey team joined a multitude of stands representing Wokingham Borough Council at Twyford Village fete and fun day. A popular fete in the summer calendar brought many families to join in the fun with live music from local bands, rides aplenty and dog and duck shows amongst the offerings.
Although the absence of people arriving on bikes was noticeable at the start of the fete, Dr Bike was kept busy later on with families cycling over to leave their bikes for him to check over with much fitting of new brake cables and tlc. The smoothie bike was constantly in action, used by nearly 50 people to whizz up healthy fruit smoothies with their legs to magic up a delicious free drink using pedal power. Keen cyclists happily took information and freebies to help improve their travel, health and the environment by using alternative ways to get around than the car. Some useful contacts were made with cyclists knowledgeable about the area who had ideas of the best places for new cycle infrastructure to link the best routes to Twyford station from Charvil and Woodley, with Crossrail coming in the future.
