Westende Junior School joins our Air Quality Project

We are delighted to have Westende Junior School join the Air Quality project at the start of January.

We have been able to put out 3 diffusion tubes outside the school to observe the Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) from surrounding traffic. The assistant head is working closely with the Eco Travel Officer to look at new initiatives and activities to support active travel.

The Wokingham Air Quality project's focus is to increase active travel and improve air quality in the Borough especially around schools near the air management areas for health and the environment. The air management areas are places where the quality of air caused by pollution is of more concern and usually due to traffic levels. The project will include strong partnerships with its schools and community members to deliver educational packs, events, activities, and competitions.

If you would like any further information on the project or have any questions, please email our Eco Travel Officer at: myjourney@wokingham.gov.uk
