A borough-wide anti-idling competition has been launched, inviting children to design bold posters encouraging drivers to switch off engines outside schools.

Winning designs will be turned into professional banners and displayed at school gates, helping spread the message to the wider community.

To take part you need to:

  • Print the poster which can be found under Related Downloads.
  • Create your design on the back in landscape or use A4 size paper.
  • The poster should focus on the impact of idling, the health benefits of clean air, or the broader theme of environmental protection.
  • Posters must include a clear slogan or message promoting the anti-idling theme. Accepted formats include traditional mediums (eg drawings, paintings) as well as digital designs which need to be printed on A4 sized paper and landscape layout.
  • BE CREATIVE with your design and slogan.

Prizes

There will be five winners selected from our Wokingham primary schools. Their designs will be printed onto one banner with one displayed at each of the winners’ schools to promote clean air and responsible driving. The five winners will each receive a £50 book voucher too.

Send your entries to us by Friday, 4 September 2026 to: myjourney@wokingham.gov.uk

Please remember to complete the details on the entry form.

The winner will be announced by 22 September 2026.

Good luck!
