Family Fun Cycling Event

My Journey was delighted to deliver a Family Fun Cycle event on the Thursday in May half-term at FBC, the only issue being the weather was rather sunny so sun cream was needed to avoid sun burn!  This was a smaller event than our usual Bike Bonanza to ease us back into events following lockdown, following updated COVID risk assessments to ensure the team and participants were kept safe.

We offered balance bike training on the track, Dr Bike bike checks, a fun obstacle course with Sprockets and family led rides and also promoted our Beat the Street game which launched on Tuesday 8 June!  We had 7 new balance bikers trying out their new skills along with another 3 regulars, and enjoyed seeing the pre-schoolers gliding round the cones after they got the knack of it!

6 riders joined us for a led family ride.  It was a lovely sunny afternoon and we cycled a total of 4 miles, off road along the California Greenway and the new cycleways in Arborfield Green. The photo shows us pausing for a drink by the lake at Waterman’s View, Arborfield.  Well done to the younger riders in particular, who managed the 4 miles comfortably, including the uphill stretch on the way back!

Dr Bike did his magic maintenance on 12 bikes and the obstacle course was popular with 12 children and some adults too, and the expressions on faces when they managed to overcome some tricky see saw ramps was priceless!
