Local Transport Plan 4

Wokingham Local Transport Plan 2025: Connecting People and Places

The Wokingham Local Transport Plan 2025 is a strategic document that sets out our approach for transport across Wokingham borough for the next 10-15 years. This is the fourth publication of our Plan and replaces our third LTP which was written in 2011.

A good transport system is essential for a thriving society. It is a key building block of our health and wellbeing, connects us to others and enables access to work, social and leisure opportunities.

The Local Transport Plan 2025 emphasises sustainable travel options, recognising the need to balance car use with walking, cycling, and public transport. Research shows that active travel can significantly improve health outcomes, reduce heart disease, and extend life expectancy. By investing in our transport networks, we aim to create healthier, more vibrant communities.

We acknowledge the challenges and inequalities in travel within our borough. Our goal is to make sustainable travel choices accessible and attractive, while still accommodating those who need to use their cars.

This plan is not just about transport; it is about shaping the future of Wokingham borough, ensuring that tackling climate change, health and wellbeing are at the heart of our policies. Together, we can create a community where everyone can thrive.

We completed public consultation of the draft Local Transport Plan in spring 2024 public consultation. The consultation report is available here under ‘Related Documents’. We have used the consultation comments to improve the draft Plan.

Our Local Transport Plan 2025: Connecting People and Places is expected to be adopted as council policy in spring 2025, after which it will be published here.
