Thames Valley Park & Ride

The Winnersh Triangle Park and Ride site was popular and well used prior to the pandemic.  This meant that Reading Buses were able to run the service at a profit without costing themselves or the council any money.  Unfortunately, although we have worked with Reading Buses to try to keep a bus running, there is a very low demand compared to pre-pandemic levels.  This means that the costs of providing a bus service far exceed the income received.

Recovery rates on Park and Ride services have been affected more than on other services due to more people working from home. The Park and Ride service from Mereoak will continue to operate, so this may be an alternative for some passengers, though we are very sorry that we will not be able to continue the same service we have been for the last few years.

We will continue to monitor changes as/if demand increases and will be discussing with Reading Buses and our Members when each Park and Ride site will open in future.  Unfortunately, we are unable to estimate when each of the sites will start to operate again.

Thames Valley Park & Ride site is located at Thames Valley Park, east of Reading and is located west of the roundabout between the A3290 and Thames Valley Park Drive.
